Hypna unleashes a 5-deep EP of true-to-form, meticulous- ly crafted club tracks. A singular sound—previously heard on forward-facing label Insert—Hypna shows off all of his assets on this one. The title track, ‘Nylon Hood’, is possibly his most signature sounding of the lot with bleeps, shimmering highs and that off-kilter drum thwack he uses oh so well.

‘DRM//BLL’ punctuates the three OG tracks, applying tight pressure to a pristine pallet of sounds to astounding effect. The coded name only becomes truly apparent towards the end; a thrum of bells and weight driven drums slowly creep in before falling away completely, only to hammer back all at once — delicious.

The final original piece of the release is a mind melter. Aptly named ‘Beam Reflector’, it whirls upwards through a sky of clinical beeps and rotating sonics, throwing up images of metallic mechanical arms as it ebbs and flows. A stand out of the pack for sure.

The stack of tracks is rounded off with two remixes; Blacksea Não Maya flips ‘DRM//BLL’ whilst Phrixus spins ‘Beam Reflector’ into an otherworldly, fantastically odd bit of bass-ridden sound design. Listen to it in a pair of decent headphones — it’ll pull your insides apart.
